Eukanuba Champion Stakes - Dogs Qualified for Grand Final

The 2009 UK Championship show season is kicking off and the excitement of Crufts is behind us; we can all look forward to the remaining 21 all-breed Championship Shows that comprise the Eukanuba Champion Stakes classes. The stakes overall winner from each show will meet and compete at the Grand Final to be held on 31st October at The Kennel Club building, Stoneleigh Park. The highest placed winning dog at the Grand Final who fulfills all the criteria* will be rewarded with an expenses paid trip to Long Beach, California, USA to represent the UK at the acclaimed Eukanuba World Challenge in December 2009.

Crufts 2009 Reserve Best In Show winner, Donny, the glamorous white Standard Poodle, and his breeder/handler/owner Mike Gadsby, along with co-owner Jason Lynn, represented the UK, becoming one of the 12 finalists at the 2008 Eukanuba World Challenge. Mike says of his experience in Long Beach, "If I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to represent the UK again, without question I would be there. We had a magnificent time and Eukanuba treated us like royalty." The two dogs already qualified for the Grand Final by winning the Eukanuba Stakes at Boston Ch Show and Manchester Ch Show respectively in January '09 are Sara Robertson's Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit) Ch Soletrader My Aphrodisiac and Naomi Cragg & Kathryn Armstrong's Hungarian Vizsla Sh Ch Aust Ch Hungargunn Bear It'n Mind (Imp).

Any breeder or owner considering entering the Eukanuba Champion Stakes would be advised to start the process for obtaining their dog's pet passport. It takes seven months to complete from start to finish. Please speak to your own vet or Defra for up-to-date pet passport details.
